Foundation Transition Program
Welcome to our comprehensive Foundation (2027) Transition program!
At Cheltenham Primary School, we believe that a seamless transition from pre-school to Foundation is vital to establish a sound start to school life. Children, parents and care givers are encouraged to participate in the transition program in order to explore the engaging programs available.
Our school proudly provides children with a happy and active start to their school years in a safe and secure environment. We aim to facilitate the best possible transition between Pre-school and Foundation through the following programs:
Our school uses the Department of Education’s secure digital enrolment system VicStudents. This means you can submit your Foundation (Prep) application online and receive updates through the system. If you have any questions about the online enrolment process, please contact our school. Paper enrolment application forms are also available on request.

Please note – one tour booking per family (2 Adults), children welcome to attend.

Experience Days
We are offering three (3) Experience Days for 2027 Foundation children to come and explore – Sports, Science or Art.

Online Enrolment Process
All Victorian government primary schools follow the statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline. The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child at a Victorian government primary school.
You can apply to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep).
What you need to do:
- Book a school tour to learn more about our school.
- Download the Foundation (Prep) enrolment information pack from Enrolling in Foundation (Prep) (available by 20 April). This pack includes guidance on the application process.
- Submit an enrolment application by Friday 31 July 2026.
- Our school uses the Department of Education’s secure digital enrolment system called VicStudents. - You will be notified of the outcome of your application between Monday 3 August and Friday 14 August 2026.
- If you receive an enrolment offer, you should accept the offer by Friday 28 August 2026.
- Take part in school transition sessions during Term 4, 2026.
- Prepare your child to start Foundation (Prep) from Thursday 28 January 2027.
